Race Highlights
Franciscan Men's Cross Country was picked to finish sixth in the PAC according to the Coaches' Preseason Poll, and they have yet to be regionally ranked this season. That did not prevent them from winning the 2024 PAC Championship, which was one of the closest, contested Championship in PAC history.
Andrew Madigan continued his impressive season, as he placed sixth to be the first Baron to cross the finish line.
Miguel Daez was not far behind him in eighth place. Through two runners finished, the Barons were in third behind Saint Vincent and Washington & Jefferson, both of which are regionally ranked foes and expected to win the Championship today.Â
Franciscan showed their talented depth, as
Conal Delaney placed 14th with a time of 26:45.3. He was followed by
Ryan Ozymy, who came up big in his final year of eligibility with a 17th place finish. In the fifth position for the Barons was
Luke Hurley. The freshman's time of 27:06.8 beat a Grove City runner by one-tenth of a second to give the Barons 67 points and win the PAC title by one point over Geneva.Â
Saint Vincent finished three points behind Franciscan in third. Washington & Jefferson had 75 points in fourth, and Grove City had 77 points in fifth, as five teams were within 10 points of winning this Championship.
This was the Barons' seventh Men's Cross Country Championship in program history and fourth since joining the PAC in 2020.Â
