How It HappenedÂ
The Bearcats opened up the scoring off a free kick deep in the Barons zone. Franciscan responded quickly to tie the game back up.
Elise Winogradoff was on the left side line near the midline. She hit a long ball across the field and dropped it right behind the defense, but out of reach of the goalie. Dexter sprinted through a small gap between two defenders and had a one on one opportunity with the goalie. She went right, then after the goalie committed that direction, fired a shot to the left side of the net just inside the post. The wave of excitement quickly faded after the Bearcats scored their second goal less than two minutes later. Opportunities were limited for the rest of the match.
Kierra Wilson had a good opportunity and Dexter had a second high quality look, but both shots were missed by a small margin. Those were the only real opportunities for the Barons to add a goal which would have still left them short on the night. Coach Miller saw some bright spots and is optimistic about his teams progression. They look to bounce back at home against Chatham this Saturday.
