Today's senior spotlight is Sofia Lawson, a four-year member of the Franciscan cross country team from Ventura, California. The Communication Arts major looks to be veteran presence on and off the course in her final collegiate season.

What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming season?
Lawson: Meeting the new girls joining the team and growing closer with the old ones. I really want to improve my running this season. This has been the summer I take the summer training most seriously, so I'm excited to race again!

What is your most memorable moment at Franciscan throughout your career?
Lawson: Running pre-national during my freshman year. It was my first time seeing snow, and it was while I was racing a most of the girls on the team that raced that day had significant PR's, and it was a blast.

What are your plans after graduating from Franciscan?
Lawson: I want to travel and learn about the world while doing professional video editing.

Who has made the biggest impact on your life?
Lawson: My parents and my grandma, they all taught me a lot about love and sacrifice.

What is the best piece of advice that you can give to the incoming freshmen at Franciscan?
Lawson: The best is yet to come. There are season that are full of trials and hardships, but the Lord is so gracious with us. Look around at others that inspire you and bring you joy, and take inspiration from them. If you have your eyes on the right prize the best is yet to come.
