Barons Battle Behrend

Franciscan 1, Penn State Behrend 2

Starting XI
Benjamin James, Augustine Rubino, Andrew Goduti, Anthony Venditti, George Phillips, Anthony Lyons, Lucas Cross, Zachary Muldoon, Aidan Henninger, Colm Corcoran, & Goalkeeper - Aiden Miller

How It Happened
The Barons finish their non-conference play against a familiar foe in Penn State Behrend. For 14 years, the Barons lost every matchup, but from 2022-24 the series has been in Franciscan's favor. They have led the series 2-1-1 in that stretch outscoring Behrend 6-2. This afternoon they added a loss to that total falling to Behrend 2-1.
Shots were at a premium in this contest, but with the Barons leading in restart opportunities, especially corners, everyone watching was expecting the Barons to be the first to crack the "love all" score. Unfortunately, Behrend were the first to score squeaking one in just before half and then again another right after the half break. Those two quick goals were a dagger to the Barons. They recovered and managed to get on the board in the 65' off a goal from Anthony Lipnicky, but couldn't get to deuce before time expired.

Inside the Numbers
- Zachary Burgess saw 35 minutes in net recording 2 saves
- Lipnicky netted his first goal in his first appearance as a Baron

Who's Next?
Franciscan will begin PAC play at Saint Vincent on Tuesday. The Barons are 5-5 all-time against the Bearcats, including four consecutive wins. Last season, the Barons won 6-0 in Steubenville. Five different Barons scored for the Barons, including a pair of goals from Lucas Cross. The Bearcats are off to a good start in non-conference play with a 6-1-1 record.
