Henninger Winner Lifts Barons Over Bearcats

Franciscan 4, Saint Vincent 1

Starting XI
Benjamin James, Augustine Rubino, Andrew Goduti, Anthony Venditti, George Phillips, Anthony Lyons, Lucas Cross, Zachary Muldoon, Aidan Henninger, Colm Corcoran, & Goalkeeper - Aiden Miller

How It Happened
The 2025 PAC season has officially begun. The moment to test how the difficult non-conference play shapes them for conference play.
Initially, a little troublesome. The Bearcats scored nearly immediately to go up 1-0. The quick strike woke up the Barons offense. Lucas Cross answered two minutes later with a solo goal to tie it.
The Bearcats then looked to answer back. They made a couple runs on the goal, but we lucked out with a forward offside. The Bearcats won the ball off our resulting free kick and marched right back into our box. After that defensive stand, we flipped the field and took the lead off a Henninger goal.
In the second half, Cross had an early penalty kick try. He buried his second career attempt grabbing his first career PK goal and put the Barons up 3-1. It was fairly smooth sailing from there. The Barons had firm control of the game. In the waning, minutes Goduti put the icing on an already big cake by scoring a goal to put the Barons up three.
The strong start to conference play should quell any hopes PAC opponents had that this team would be any less than the championship contender they've been for years now.

Who's Next?
Franciscan remains in PAC play on Saturday at Chatham. The Barons are 3-1-1 all-time against the Cougars, including a scoreless tie in 2024. The Barons beat them in 2023 and 2022 by a score of 2-0, as Chatham has not scored on the Barons since 2021. The Cougars had an up-and-down non-conference play which included a win over Marietta and loss to Penn State Behrend, just like the Barons.
