Smith Leads Barons at Steubenville Country Club

Steubenville, Ohio - Franciscan Women's Golf hosted their first men's and women's Fall Invitational at Steubenville Country Club on Homecoming Saturday. The Barons carded a 402 to place 5th out of the seven women's competing teams. Marietta won on the men's side among the eight competing teams, as 78 golfers took on the course.

How it Happened
Natalie Smith led the Barons with a 92. That score was tied for ninth overall among the 38 women. She handled the par three well, as she made par on #2 and #12. Lauren David shot a personal best 99, as the senior broke 100 on her home course. She was able to par #6 and #12, as she kept a pretty clean scorecard.
 Catherine Ehresman shot a 104. She had the lone birdie of the day for the Barons with one on the par four #5. Rounding out the top four finishers was Katie Black with a 107. She made par on #7, a par three over water, as part of her opening nine 54. Chloe Puhl shot a 108 to place fifth among the Barons today, and Emily Browne shot a 125. 

Up Next
Franciscan will now focus on preparation for the fall PAC Championship Rounds. The four-round championship consists of two rounds in the fall and two in the spring. This fall, they will be played at Avalon Squaw Creek once again. They will compete on October 13th-14th. Last season, the Barons were in seventh place after the first two rounds, but they look to climb up several spots in the rankings this season.
