How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Swimming & Diving returned to competition after a long reset over Christmas Break. The Barons will compete a handful of times in January and February before the PAC Championships near the end of February. They took on Chatham and Washington & Jefferson in Washington, Pennsylvania, just 45 minutes east of campus.
Some of the veterans got the Barons their first points of the day. Kate Kinst placed second in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 20:34.61. In the 200 freestyle, Rachel Pergi beat the five-swimmer field with a time of 2:22.99 in first place. Kinst placed second once more, but in a much shorter event. Her time of 28.51 earned silver in the 50 freestyle. Pergi continued her strong day with a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle.
Pergi and Kinst, were joined by Haley Fifield and Gabrielle Lewis in the 200 freestyle relay to end the meet. They placed third with a time of 1:57.19.
