Barons Fall to Tornadoes in the Final Seconds

Franciscan 0, Geneva 1

Starting XI
Anthony Venditti, Aidan Mahony, Andrew Goduti, George Phillips, Noah Haggerty, Anthony Lyons, Seth Lange, Jonah Kline, Colm Corcoran, Dylan Cabrera, & Goalkeeper - Aiden Miller

How It Happened
The Barons traveled to Beaver Falls to face the Geneva Golden Tornadoes. The Barons allowed a last second goal to lose 0-1 and fell to a tie for 4th in the PAC.
With only a couple dozen seconds remaining, the Tornadoes had possession of the ball at midfield. The Barons were doing a good job at the time of clearing any attacks. The tornadoes found an open forward on the left side and sent a cross ball which found his feet. The Tornadoes forward then sent a cross that made it to the far side of the net finding Luke Kost. He buried the shot for his 4th goal of the season and claiming the 1-0 victory.
Two years ago, the Barons traveled to Geneva and we had a very similar ending game. That game, the Barons were the ones who scored the late goal to change the outcome of the game. That game clinched the #1 seed in the PAC, and the Barons went on to win the PAC Champioinship. Last night, it was Geneva who scored the last second goal to hold onto the #2 seed.
The Barons are sitting tied for 4th place with Waynesburg who they play this Saturday on the road. However, even a win Saturday will not seal their position. The Barons final regular season game is vs St. Francis. Since the St. Francis games are not counting toward PAC standings, the rest of the league has one more game to play than the Barons. This brings two teams below them in standings into the fold. With a win on Saturday, the Barons will await game results of St. Vincent and W&J to see what position they hold. A win clinches a playoff berth, but a loss Saturday could land the Barons anywhere from 5th to not in the playoffs.
