How It Happened
Yesterday evening, the Barons welcomed the Thiel Tomcats for the 15th meeting between the two programs. The last time the Barons have lost to the Tomcats was 2018, and the Tomcats came in hungry to end that streak.
Noah Haggerty came off the bench and struck first to put the Barons up 1-0, but before half the Tomcats answered to tie the game at one-all. The Barons already had three PAC ties. To get out of the clogged mess in the standings and separate from the middle of the crowd, they desperately needed to get a win and three points. Coach was happy with their execution early, but we just needed to sink the opportunities given. Eventually, the consistent pressure broke through the Tomcat defense. Goduti and Mahony added goals to give the Barons a two goal lead with less than 10 minutes remaining.
The three PAC points push the Barons up into fourth place and just one point behind Geneva and Waynesburg tied for second. They travel to Allegheny Wednesday night with a chance to move into second place.
