OBERLIN – The Franciscan men's cross country team captured its highest team finish at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College with a third-place team finish, Saturday morning.
Sophomore Liam Galligan (Springfield, PA/Galligan Academy) once again led the pack of Barons as he finished second overall and just 28 seconds off of the lead runner. Galligan crossed the line at 25:24.4 with the second fastest time of his career. The sophomore was the top Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference runner as well.
Senior Nick Long (Youngstown, OH/Boardman) was the second Baron across the finish line as he took 21st overall with a time of 26:23.1, less than nine seconds off of his career best (26:12.6). Sophomore Mark Borek (Hamburg, MI/Detroit Catholic Central) was close behind Long as he came in at 26:26.9 for 24th overall. Senior Grady Stuckman (Cincinnati, OH/Summit County Day School) posted a personal-best in an 8K race as he crossed the line at 26:31.8, breaking his previous PR by a second. Junior Matthew Crotteau (Metamora, IL/Metamora Township) rounded out the top-five runners for the Barons as he finished 62nd overall with a personal-best time of 26:58.2.
Freshman Michael Sobus (Charlotte, NC/Ardrey Kell) ran a career-best to take 203rd overall with a time of 29:12.1 and sophomore Cade Coleman (Gilford, NH/Virtual Learning Academy) finished 258th overall in his first collegiate race with a time of 30:55.2.
The Barons will have next week off as they prepare for the AMCC championship meet on Saturday, October 27. The AMCC championship race will be held on Franciscan's campus and is set to begin at 11:00 am.
