CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – After narrowly missing a spot in the National Championship meet last season, sophomore Liam Galligan earned his way to Oshkosh after leading the Franciscan men's cross country team to a 13th-place finish at the Mideast Regional, Saturday afternoon.
Galligan will join his sister, Grace, at the NCAA National Championship meet next Saturday in Oshkosh, WI and it is the second time in program history that Franciscan will send and female and male runner to the national meet. The last time being 2012 when Bill Jones and Nicole Krajewski competed in Terre Haute, IN.
The Springfield, PA native earned his spot on the national stage after a sixth-place finish at the Mideast Regional with a time of 26:11. Galligan was the top AMCC runner at the meet. Galligan also earned his second-straight All-Region honors with his top-10 finish.
Senior Nick Long wrapped up his career with the Baron cross country team as he took 50th overall with a time of 27:25. Not far behind was sophomore Mark Borek with a time of 27:33 as he finished 59th overall.
Senior Grady Stuckman ran a steady race and took 118th overall as he finished with a time of 28:30 for the Barons. Junior Matthew Crotteau was the final scoring runner for the Barons across the line as he finished 121st overall with a time of 28:34.
Freshman Michael Sobus finished 265th overall with a time of 31:19 while sophomore Cader Coleman finished 275th overall and was the seventh runner for the Barons with a time of 31:37.
