Race Highlights for the Women

The Lady Barons placed 8th out of all 10 PAC schools competing today at Grove City. Alison Bryant would get the day started off well for Franciscan, as she won the 3,000 meter steeplechase, with a time of 11:03.88. At the moment, that is the 3rd best time in Division III across the nation. The Lady Barons would have two players reach the podium in the 1500 meter run, as Elizabeth Atkins placed second with a time of 5:05.67. Teammate, Shannon Wieszczek was right on her heels in third place with a time of 5:05.71. That would give Franciscan 24 points through just six events. Alison Bryant would test her skills in a much shorter run, the 800 meter dash, as she placed 6th with a time of 2:29.39. Shannon Wieszczek would be the last Lady Baron to register points, with a 7th place finish in the 400 meter hurdles.

Race Highlights for the Men

The Barons would register their first points of the day, as Nate Tokarsky placed third in the 1500 meter run. David Cappello would earn the first win of the day for the Barons in the 400 meter run, with a time of 51.00. He was joined on the podium, by Ryan Ozymy in 4th place with a time of 52.82. In the 800 meter run, Mark Borek would earn a 5th place finish with a time of 2:01.55. Austen Duggan joined Borek on the podium, with a time of 2:02.87 to earn 7th place. 

Michael Herrmann would have his strongest finish of the day in the 400 meter hurdles, as he placed 7th with a time of 1:07.86. Transfer George Kaftan would hace a strong showing in the 5,000 meter run, as he placed second with a time of 15:32.82. The Barons would earn their second win of the day in the 4x400 relay, the final running event of the day. The team of David Cappello, Miguel Daez, Austen Duggan and Ryan Ozymy combined to run a 3:32.50 narrowly edging the team from Saint Vincent.
