Short Story: Galligan and Bryant each earn a pair of wins, as Franciscan wraps up the PAC Championships in Morgantown.

Race Highlights for the Women

The Lady Barons would win the first track event of the day, as Alison Bryant continued her dominance in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Her time of 11:04.00 was a new program record and PAC Championship record time as well. She would beat the field by more than 40 seconds. Franciscan added five points in the 1500 meter run, as Elizabeth Atkins and Shannon Wieszczek placed 6th and 7th. Ashlin LaFond would have a strong showing in the 800 meter dash, as she placed 6th with a 2:30.82. Shannon Wieszczek would place 8th in a newer event, the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 75.98. Alison Bryant would bring home her second gold medal of the day, with a win in the 5000. That would complete the very busy day for the junior who would win the two longest events of the day. 

Race Highlights for the Men

In the first track event of the day, the Barons narrowly missed the podium, as Mike Sobus placed 10th in the 3000 meter steeplechase. The Barons would earn the first win of the day in the 1500 meter run, as Liam Galligan would run a 4:14.50. Teammate Mark Borek would bring home the silver, as he was only two seconds behind Galligan. Franciscan kept up the success in the 400 meter dash, as David Cappello ran to the victory with a time of 50.55. Ryan Ozymy also earned points with a 7th place finish with a time of 52.55. 

Austen Duggan would earn his first medal, as he placed second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:00.06. Miguel Daez would also earn points in the 800, as he placed fourth just missing a medal. Galligan would earn his second win of the day in the 5000 meter run, by posting a time of 15:54.70. His teammate, George Kaftan was right on his heels, as he took home his first PAC silver medal with a time of 15:54.84.

Franciscan will await a date for a last chance meet in the coming week. It will be the last chance for any Franciscan athlete to qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
