How It Happened
The Franciscan baseball team would win game one over Waynesburg, by a score of 8-0.
Jacob Whitmore would pick up where he left off in his last start, as he pitched a complete game shutout, while only allowing four hits over seven innings.Â
Both teams would be held scoreless until the third inning when the Barons struck first.
James Becker would draw a leadoff walk in the top of the third.
Daniel Halsey would then single to third to bump Becker over to third. Both runners advanced ninety feet shortly later on a wild pitch. That would setup a sacrifice fly opportunity for
Patrick Wallace and he would deliver a fly ball deep enough to right field to score the speedy Becker.
Joshua Costello would manufacture a run of his own in the fourth inning, He would earn his first hit of the day with a leadoff single to left field. He would make his way to second on a wild pitch. With one out,
Declan Peterson would ground out and advance Costello to third. Costello would then score on the second wild pitch of the inning to give Franciscan a 2-0 edge.Â
The top of the order would produce again in the fifth inning for Franciscan, as
Patrick Wallace hit a one out single. After advancing to second on a passed ball, Wallace would score on a double by
Brendan Burke. That would expand the lead up to 3-0. The Franciscan bats would not be satisfied, as they would add a couple more insurance runs in the top of the seventh.
Patrick Wallace roped a one out double to to center field to get the action started.
Brendan Burke was then hit by a pitch to put two runners aboard. After
Chris Furka grounded out,
Joshua Costello would reach base on an error by the second baseman to score Wallace. Ferrance would keep the two out rally going, as he singled in Burke.
Declan Peterson would then single in Costello, and
Kyle Ferrance would alertly score from second base, as neither the pitcher or catcher was defending home plate.
Joshua Speaker would then single in Peterson, and just like that, Franciscan scored five runs with two outs in the final frame to set the score at 8-0.Â

How It Happened
The Barons would take care of business in game two, as
Jacob Watson would deliver the complete game for Franciscan.Â
Both teams would be held scoreless until the fifth inning.
Joshua Speaker and
Daniel Halsey would each earn their way aboard with singles. With two outs,
Brendan Burke delivered a shot to left field that would drive in a pair and leave Burke on second base.
Michael Maynard would then enter the game as a pinch hitter for
Chris Furka. The young lefty would smack a double to center field that would score Burke and give Franciscan a 3-0. lead.Â
Watson continued to put zeros on the scoreboard, until the eighth inning. A pair of singles by the Yellow Jackets would put a runner on third base. Srbinovich would hit a ball deep enough to right field that would score the first Waynesburg run of the day.Â
In the ninth,
Daniel Halsey would leadoff with a single, and then the next two batters would hit into quick outs. Maynard would then reach base when he was hit by a pitch.
Joshua Costello would then deliver a clutch two out single to center field that would score Halsey. Waynesburg would not be able to get out of the ninth inning, as an error by the shortstop allowed Ferrance to reach base and score Maynard. The Barons were not finished, as
Declan Peterson would go opposite field for a double down the right field line. That would score Costello to set the score at 7-1. The designated hitter,
Joshua Speaker would then deliver a two RBI single to right. That would be five runs scored by Franciscan in the final inning with two outs for the second time today.Â
Jacob Watson would come out to pitch the ninth, and he would shutdown the Yellow Jackets to register his third complete game. With the win, Franciscan clinches their spot in the PAC Baseball Tournament for the first time in their history. Their seeding is not official until games tomorrow to be completed.Â
