How It Happened
Franciscan made the trip up north to Grove City on Monday for a PAC doubleheader. The host Wolverines would jump out to an early 5-0 lead with three runs in the first and a pair in the second. Franciscan would respond in the third inning. Ryan Scavnicky would lead off the inning with single, but later be thrown out a the plate. Michael Maynard would reach base then steal second and third to score on a fielder's choice by Andrew Normandin to se the score at 5-1. In the fourth with two outs, James Becker would rip a double to down the left field line. Patrick Wallace would then single him in to tighten it up at 5-2. The Barons would tack another one on in the fifth. Daniel Halsey would hit a double and then reach third on an error. Ryan Anselmino would then drive in Hlasey on a sacrifice fly and set the score at 5-3.

The Wolverines would answer in the fifth and sixth by scoring four runs in each inning to take a commanding 13-3 lead. Anselmino would drive in Anthony Franzonello in the seventh, but the Wolverines would win 13-4. The win would clinch a playoff spot for the Wolverines, while eliminating the Barons from playoff contention this season.

At the Plate
- Daniel Halsey was the lone hitter with two hits, including a double.
- Ryan Anselmino had a team high two RBIs.
- James Becker now has doubles in back to back games.
- Michael Maynard stole three bases, two in the third inning.

On the Mound
- Starter Ryan Neely pitched two innings with four earned runs on him.
- Brody Hynes put up zeros in the third and fourth innings before running into trouble in the fifth.
- Peter Falconite pitched 1.1 innings with four earned on him.
- Dylan Robb got the final out on a flyout.

How It Happened
Game two would be a bullpen pitching game for the Barons, as the Wolverines would jump out to a 3-0 lead through three innings. The Barons would respond in a huge way in the fourth inning, as they loaded the bases with two outs. Patrick Wallace drew a walk that scored Dylan Robb. Ryan Scavnicky then had a clutch single that scored James Becker and Daniel Halsey. Michael Maynard kept the two-out rally going, as he singled in Scavnicky and Wallace, as Franciscan would take a 5-3 lead. 

The Barons would expand the lead in the sixth, as they manufactured a run. Halsey reached base on an error, and then James Becker moved him over with a sacrifice bunt. Patrick Wallace would single Haley in to give Franciscan a three run lead. The Wolverines would get one run back in the bottom of the sixth, and then score five in the seventh to take a commanding lead. The Barons would pull to within two in the ninth when Ryan Scavnicky scored on a wild pitch, but that is as close as they would come. 
 
At the Plate
- The top three hitters in Franciscan's lineup each had two RBIs.
- Patrick Wallace had a team high three hits.
- Aidan Hickey had the lone extra-base hit with a double. 

On the Mound  
- Starter Jonathan Perez pitched 2.2 innings giving up three runs, two of which were earned.
- Dominic Brandi had a strong outing pitching three innings, while only allowing one run. 
- Samuel Tyler and Andrew Normadin ran into issues in the seventh with Normandin getting the loss.
- Halsey pitched the final inning and two thirds in scoreless fashion

Up Next
Franciscan is schedule to finish their three game series with Chatham at home on Tuesday afternoon at home with game one starting at 1:00 p.m. The first game wil be scheduled for seven innings and the second slated for nine innings with both being conference games. Rain is scheduled to be coming through the Steubenville area tomorrow, so stayed tuned for the latest changes if any are made.

Franciscan University Athletics is partnering with Steubenville Conferences to offer summer sports camps in conjunction with the Steubenville Main Campus 1 (June 9-12th, 2022) and 3 (June 23-26th, 2022). Youth Conferences. Participants will be able to strengthen both their athletic skills and their relationship with Christ in this uniquely Franciscan hybrid experience.
