How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Swimming & Diving hit the road for their longest road trip of the season, as they went to Juniata on Saturday. Franciscan would make the trip well worth it, by picking up a pair of wins to remain unbeaten in the 2023-24 season.
The relays would remain strong for the Barons, as they won the opening event, 400 meter medley relay. It would be the team of Sarah Kelty, Janie Whatley, Jessica Stiles, and Anne Konstanty that were first to finish with a time of 5:19.09.
Madeline Dietrich would be the next Baron to earn a win, this time in the 200 meter freestyle. She posted a time of 2:30.50 to win in a deep, seven swimmer heat. Anne Konstanty picked up her second win of the day in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 39.97. Stiles would do the same in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:21.51, as the Barons would be in the lead through nine events.
Whatley would be the next Baron to earn a win. She won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:26.69. Dietrich earned her third win of the day in the 400 meter freestyle. She posted a time of 5:20.48 in her first attempt at this event.
The Barons had already secured the a pair of wins, but they would finish strong in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Madeline Dietrich, Jessica Stiles, Anne Konstanty, and Janie Whatley, swam a time of 2:06.60 to win the final event a break a program record time.

Franciscan will return home for their final meet of the fall semester on Saturday November 18th. They will host Chatham at 1:00 p.m. in a PAC matchup. Last season, the took on the Cougars at Penn State Altoona where they were able to defeat them by a score of 154-45. Chatham is unbeaten in PAC play in the early goings of the 2023-24 season, as they were able to defeat Bethany last month.
