Several Barons Set Personal Records at Youngstown State

Short Story: The Barons show continued improvement, as they continue to prepare for the PAC Championship which is less that three weeks away. 

Results

Highlights for the Women
  • Lauren Arena led the way for the Barons with a time under nine seconds in the 60m dash. Julianna VanderPloog was not far behind her with a time of 9.47 seconds.
  • Rebecca Bolster posted a personal best time in the 200m with a time of 27.96 seconds. That time is the fourth fastest in program history.
  • Bolster also excelled in the 400m with a time of 1:01.32. That new personal best time would be the third fastest in program history.
  • Lauren Dosch placed second in the 800m with a time of 2:18.33. That would break her school record. Jessica Campbell placed 5th with a time of 2:20.69.
  • In the mile, Annie Seida was the fastest Baron with a time of 5:43.29. Mary Elizabeth Savage posted a personal record time, and Emma O'Keefe was right behind her.
  • Seida would also be the fastest Baron in the 3000m. Kendra Antol posted a personal best time. 
  • Fiona McCaig was the lone Baron in the 5000m, as she posted a time of 22:50.40.
  • Kimbria Lance cleared 3.01m to place seventh in the pole vault.
Highlights for the Men
  • Andrew Menck was the fastest Baron in the 60m with a time of 7.37 seconds. John Sicree and Luke Tran also posted times under eight seconds.
  • Alexander Blose broke his school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.78 seconds.
  • Menck placed 26th in the 200m with a time of 23.30 seconds. Sicree placed 51st. 
  • Ryan Ozymy placed on the podium with a time of 49.24 seconds in the 400m run. Joseph Rohde ran the event in 51.04 seconds, and Dwayne Gethard was just behind him.
  • Dominic Young posted a personal record time in the mile of 5:20.65.
  • Luke Tran posted a new collegiate best performance in the long jump with a jump of 4.85m.
  • Charles Jardine had the second best throw in school history in the shot put, as he launched one 13.15m to set a new personal record. Tyson Smith and Raphael Blose also threw just shy of 10 meters. 
Up Next
The Barons will split up next weekend. Some athletes will make the trip west to Otterbein for the All-Ohio Championships, while another group will head up north to the Spire Institute for the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games.
