Youngstown, Ohio - Franciscan Women's Golf started the 2025-26 season at the same course that the 2024-25 season ended. They competed at the YSU Kickoff at Mill Creek - North Course in Boardman, Ohio. The Barons shot a new program record team score of 392 to start the season on a high note.

How it Happened
Natalie Smith made her collegiate debut in a big way by carding an 88. She had six pars and nine bogeys while keeping a pretty clean card in her first time seeing the future PAC Championship course. Her 42 on the opening nine was the best nine hole score for any Baron in the event. She played along the medalist from Youngstown State, who carded a 64 on her home track.

Catherine Ehresman carded a 95 to place 21st overall. Her opening nine score of 45 included three pars and four bogeys. That score was also her best on this course through three collegiate rounds there, in the last two seasons. Chloe Puhl shot a new collegiate-best round of 102. She shot 51 on each nine and finished strong with bogeys on the final two holes. Lauren David placed 28th with a 106 to round out the top four scorers. She also shot the same score on the front as she did on the back and recovered well from a slow start in the morning. Katie Black concluded the day for the Barons with a 121. 
 
Up Next
Franciscan returns to action at Thiel on Saturday, as they have a pair of tournaments this week. The Barons played in this event last year which was held at Avalon Buhl Park. In 2024, they shot a 436 to place seventh out of eight teams there. Catherine Ehresman led the Barons in that event as she placed 23rd with her round of 103.
