ALLIANCE – The Franciscan men's and women's track and field teams ran at the Jim Wuske Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Mount Union on Saturday. Between the two squads, the Barons brought home 14 top-10 finishes including three first-place times.
Sophomore
Liam Galligan led the bunch with a pair of individual wins and helped the 4x400-meter relay team to a first-place finish. Galligan's first win of the day came in the 1-mile run after he crossed the line at 4:21.66, five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The sophomore then won the 800-meter run as he led a group of four Barons in the race with a time of 2:00.57, just a step ahead of the second-place finisher (2:00.97).

Austen Duggan,
Carlo Fabian, and James Craig won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:36.46, less than a second ahead of the next team.
Senior
Nick Long turned in a pair of top-five performances with second-place showing in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:03.48 and a fourth-place finish in the 1,000-meter run at 2:46.42.
Sophomore
Mark Borek joined Long with a top-five finish in the 3,000-meter run as he crossed the finish line at 9:05.69 in his only race of the day.
Duggan picked up an individual top-10 finish as he took sixth overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:04.92. Craig posted a 10
th-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.03 and Fabian narrowly missed a top-10 finish as he crossed the line at 54.71 for 11
th overall.
Freshman Allison Bryant took 10
th overall in the 3,000-meter run for the Lady Barons first top-10 finish of the day with a time of 11:27.17. Classmate
Elizabeth Atkins turned in an eighth-place finish in the 1-mile run as she crossed the line at 5:47.64.
Freshmen Claire Dawyot and
Ashlin LaFond helped the Lady Barons to two more top-10 finished in the 800-meter run. Dawyot finished a step ahead of the next runner to take third overall with a time of 2:29.43. LaFond finished at 2:34.55 to take 10
th overall.
Freshman
Taylor Smith finished fourth overall in the 5,000-meter run as she crossed the line at 22:41.22.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of senior
Grace Galligan, Dawyot, LaFond, and sophomore Beth Flanagan took fifth with a time of 4:33.85.
