ALLIANCE – The Franciscan men's and women's track and field teams ran at the Raider Tune Up, hosted by the University of Mount Union and hit three ECAC marks while sophomore
Liam Galligan hit an ECAC mark at the Kent State Tune Up.
The women's and men's distance medley relays were the first two to qualify for the ECAC indoor championships. The women's team of Claire Dawyot,
Ashlin LaFond,
Mary Jo Schirger, and
Grace Galligan won the 4000 DMR with a time of 12:53.50. The men's team of
Carlo Fabian,
Austen Duggan,
Mark Borek, and
Nick Long earned at spot in the ECAC champions with a second-place finish at 10:47.98.
In the 500 meter dash, LaFond qualified for the ECAC indoor championships as she took fifth overall with a time of 1:26.07.
In the men's race, Duggan took fifth overall with a time of 1:12.27 and Fabian finished in sixth at 1:13.73.
Later in the 800-meter run, Dawyot took ninth overall with a time of 2:30.49.
The distance runners had a strong showing as the Barons took four of the top-10 spots in the 5000-meter run. Long won the race with a time of 15:52.26 while
Grady Stuckman came in fourth with a time of 16:11.83.
Liam Galligan, joining the team in Alliance after the Kent State Tune Up, took sixth overall with a time of 16:36.21. Michael Sobus rounded out the top-10 finishers for the Barons with an eighth-place finish with a time of 17:17.29.
Matthew Murphy rounded out the top-10 finishes for the day for the Barons with a ninth-place time of 3:34.54 in the 1000-meter run.
Earlier in the day,
Liam Galligan ran at the Ken State Tune Up and finished second overall among DI, DII, and DIII athletes in the 1-mile run with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:14.42.
The men's and women's track athlete who have qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championships will head to New York City on February 28 for the championship meet hosted at The New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York, NY.
