Short Story: Alison Bryant broke a school record with her win in the 5000 meter run. On the men's side, David Cappello broke the school record in the 400 meter run.

Race Highlights for the Women

The Lady Barons were able to rack up 27 points, by earning points in five events, including one win by Alison Bryant in the 5000 meter run. The Lady Barons did not have any field athletes compete at Bethany. In the 1500 meter run, Elizabeth Atkins ran a time of 5:08.46 to earn 6th place. Miranda Rose earned an 8th place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 69.17 in the one lap event. In the 800 meter dash, two Lady Barons would earn points. Ashlin LaFond placed 5th with a time of 2:29.33, and teammate Shannon Wieszczek was not far behind in 6th place with a time of 2:32.12. 

Alison Bryant would then win the 5000 meter. The PAC Runner of the Year in Cross Country, continued her success, by running to a 1st place finish with a time of 17:29.92. Bryan also would break the school record time in this event. A record that held for a little over 10 years. The second place runner from Westminster finished more than a minute and a half behind Bryant for a dominant win. Then in the final event of the te day, Franciscan placed 4th in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:30.57. The relay team was comprised of Ashlin LaFond, Shannon Wieszczek, Elizabeth Atkins and Alison Bryant.

Race Highlights for the Men

The Barons had a strong day as they finished 4th in their first meet of the season. Scoring was started by Jonathon Meinholz who placed 5th in the javelin throw with a best throw of 42.44 meters. In the first running event, Aidan Kay placed 3rd in the 10,000 meter run. Kay ran the long race in a time of 36:50.43. The Barons then earned their first win of the day, by their captain Liam Galligan. Galligan ran a time of 3:56.72 to win the 1500 meter run. Teammate Mark Borek was not too far behind him, with a time of 4:08.64 to place 3rd. Michael Herrmann placed third in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.23. 

The Barons would win another event, as David Cappello would win the 400 meter with a new school record time of 50.11. Easton Syvertson was not far behind, as  he placed second with a time of 50.97. The Barons would clutter the podium in the 800 meter run. Miguel Daez would lead the way, as he placed 2nd with a time of 1:58.02. Austen Duggan placed 3rd with a time of 1:58.38, and Ryan Ozymy earned points in 7th with a time of 2:04.01. The Barons would follow that up with three more runners earning points in the 5000 meter run. Sophomore George Kaftan placed second with a time of 15:51.14. In sixth was Mike Sobus with a time of 17:05.94, and in seventh was Nathaniel Tokarsky with a time of 17:50.08.
