How It Happened
The Franciscan Baseball team hosted rebounded from their losses against Washington and Jefferson last weekend with a big game one win over Geneva.
Daniel Halsey and
Joshua Costello each drive in three runs in the 19-1 win in seven innings. The Barons plated at least one run in each inning of the victory.
In the first inning
Austin Horan would plate the first run, as he stole second. Then advanced to third on a wild throw by the catcher and scored on a wild through from the outfielder. The Barons would score another run on a Geneva defensive blunder, as
Declan Peterson was able to score from second on a fielder's choice.
The Barons offense would really heat up in the third inning.
Joshua Costello would get the runs started, as he singled in
Chris Furka and
Austin Horan.
Declan Peterson kept the rally going with a double that scored Costello.
Brendan Burke would then deliver a two RBI single to left field to stretch the lead to 7-0. The bats were not done, as
Daniel Halsey would deliver his first RBI of the day with a single to left field.
Austin Horan would come up to bat for the second time in the inning, and he would drive in
Joshua Speaker. Horan would score shortly after on a wild pitch.
Kyle Ferrance would finish the inning off with a single that would score Costello. That would complete the 10 run third inning with seven Franciscan hits.
Patrick Wallace would deliver his first RBI of the day in the fourth inning with an RBI single that scored Speaker. As we headed to the fifth inning, Franciscan would put up another crooked number.
Daniel Halsey would reach on a fielder's choice that would score
James Becker.
Declan Peterson would try to score all the way from second on this play, and thankfully the shortstop would commit an error that helped plate the second run of the inning.
Patrick Wallace would then single in
Michael Maynard. Costello would then score Halsey, and Wallace would score on another Geneva error.

How It Happened

Rick Carver let him continue to pitch with his pitch count around 100 pitches. Watson would pick off the runner and then retire the next two batters.
