How It Happened
The Barons would fall for the first time in program history to Geneva in the non-conference seven inning affair.
Franciscan would score first and would not waste much time. Leadoff hitter
Patrick Wallace reached base on an error by the right fielder.
Michael Maynard would then rip a double to right field that would score Wallace from second base. Geneva would strike back in the bottom of the first. A Wieland double would score the first run, and then a wild pitch would score another run to give the Golden Tornadoes their first lead of the series at 2-1.
Michael Maynard would help get the offense going again in the top of the third inning, as he hit another double with one out in the inning.
Joshua Costello would add to his impressive RBI total by knocking him in on a single to center field. With two outs, the Barons would load the bases full, but they would not be able to take the lead, as we would take a 2-2 score to the bottom of the third.
Joseph Hurlbert would get two quick outs to start the bottom of the third, but then would allow a single and the next batter reach on an error by Furka. This would allow Tapia to drive in the leading run on a single to left field to give Geneva a 3-2 lead.
Franciscan would retake the lead in the fourth inning, as
Patrick Wallace would single in
Noah Smith. Wallace would then score on a wild pitch later in the inning to give the Barons a 4-3 lead. Geneva would answer quickly in the bottom half of the inning, as Fee would double in Patton. King would later single in Fee to give the Golden Tornadoes a one run lead. The Golden Tornadoes would add insurance runs, as they scored a run in the fifth and sixth each off a sacrifice fly.
The Barons would attempt to come back in the bottom of the seventh, as they would be down by three.

Franciscan will return home for a doubleheader with Case Western Reserve University. Both of these games will be non-conference, so I foresee that the depth of the Barons will be on display againt a very strong Spartans team.
