The Franciscan Men's and Women's Track & Field teams traveled to Youngstown State for the second time of the 2021-22 Indoor Track season on Saturday to run against runners from Division I, II and III institutions. This was the first action for both teams since students returned to campus last week, so both teams knocking the rust off somewhat, as they prepare for a what looks to be a successful indoor season ahead of them. Seven other PAC schools joined Franciscan there, as Westminster, Bethany, Thiel, Geneva, Wash. & Jeff., Waynesburg, and Grove City, all had athletes compete.
Highlights for the Lady Barons

Rachel Hurley started the day off in the one mile run. She posted a time of 6:02.74 which placed her 43rd in the 62 runner field.Â

Ashlin LaFond ran to a 40th place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:06.52.
- In the 200 meter dash,
Alice McAnespie placed 82nd with a time of 30.85.

Alison Bryant had the best finish of the Lady Barons by placing 10th in the 3,000 meter run. Her time of 10:52.50 is the best time in the PAC thus far in this event.
Sydney Lorentz and
Beatrice Wear placed 50th and 51st in this event as well.
Highlights for the Barons
- Three Barons ran in the one mile race, as
David Di Nardo, Nate Tokarsky and
Francis Langley all posted times. Di Nardo had the best finish, as he placed 55th with a time of 4:49.46.Â

David Cappello had a strong finish in the 400 meter dash. He placed 17th with a time of 51.74. He beat all PAC athletes as well as many DI and DII runners. Also competing in the 400 meter dash for Franciscan was
Joseph Rohde (29th),
Joe Young (59th), and
Jonathon Meinholz (63rd).
- A couple of newcomers had strong showings in the 60 meter dash.
James Ricketts placed 74th with a time of 7.76 seconds. Not far behind him was
Joe Young who placed 80th.
- Ricketts also ran in the 200 meter dash. He placed 82nd with a time of 25.20.

Liam Galligan saved his legs for the 3,000 meter run, and he would be the lone Baron to have a top 10 finish. He placed 6th with a time of 8:31.61. That beat the PAC best time of the year by more than a minute in Galligan's first attempt at this distance.
Conal Delaney posted a time of 9:45.70 to place 57th.Â
- The Barons ended the day by finishing 14th in the 4x400 relay.
David Cappello,
Joseph Rohde,
Austen Duggan, and
Miguel Daez combined to run a time of 3:37.64.

Up Next
Franciscan will head north once again next weekend, as they travel to Mount Union on Saturday February 5th. They will participate in the Jim Wuske Invitational for the first time since 2020. Some runners made the trip to Alliance, Ohio in December to participate in the Toy Drive Invite in the Peterson Fieldhouse on Mount Union's campus. Both teams look to keep improving,as they look to peak at the PAC Indoor Championships which are quickly approaching in the end of February.Â
