How It Happened
The Franciscan baseball team opened up their spring break trip in Fort Pierce, Florida with two games against Hood on Sunday. The Blazers would throw one of their Dutch Deprospero in the first game, who was coming off being named conference pitcher of the week back to back weeks. Coach Rick Carver sent out Jacob Whitmore to start the very important first game of what is slated to be a busy week in Florida.

Both pitcher brought their best, as we had a 0-0 game through five innings with only four hits amongst both teams. Hood would get on the board in the top of the the sixth inning. A two out single put a runner aboard, and then he would score on a error by Hickey to score an unearned run on Whitmore. Franciscan went to Ryan Neely in the seventh, and he shutdown Hood to keep it a one run game going into the final half inning. The Barons went down, 1-2-3, as Depospero would register a complete game one-hit shutout.

How It Happened
The second game felt eerily similar to the first one, as there were only four hits through four innings and no score. The Barons chases the Blazers starter after five innings, but would not get their first run across of the day until the top of the seventh. Michael Maynard led off the inning get on base by the way of a hit by pitch. Kyle Ferrance moved him over on a sacrifice bunt, as the small ball tactics from last weekend were initiated to score a run by any means possible. Ryan Scavnicky would deliver a single, but Maynard would stay at third to give us runners at the corners. Daniel Halsey deliver with a deep ball to right field tht was caught, but Maynard was able to tag up and score the lone run of the game. Watson came out in the bottom of the seventh to finish what he started, and he did so in 1-2-3 fashion to earn his second win of the season.

At the Plate
- Daniel Halsey had the lone RBI for the Barons
- Franciscan had five hits in this game.
- Scavnicky had one hit and stole two bases.
- Maynard was 1-1 with the lone run; he reached base twice by being hit by the pitch.
