How It Happened
The Franciscan baseball team picked up their fifth win of the season on Thursday in Fort Pierce, Fla, against Albright College. The Lions struck first in the first inning, as Harlos drive in Bean, who led off the inning getting on base off an error. The Barons answered by scoring two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Scavnicky and Halsey would be on second and third as Brendan Burke came up to bat. Burke delivered a clutch one out single that would score both runners and give Franciscan the 2-1 lead. Albright answered in the second inning, as an error by Neely would aid the Lions in getting their second run. The Baron bats would deliver once again in the fourth inning. Stoehr and Normandin would get on base before Dylan Robb would rip a double that scored them both. Ferrance would reach base on an error by the shortstop, and Robb would score on the play to give Franciscan a 5-2 edge. Halsey and Burke would each get on base to start the bottom of the fifth inning. After two quick outs, Andrew Normandin would deliver a two-out two-RBI single to give Franciscan a 7-2 edge. Ryan Neely was steady all day, as he only allowed three hits in the complete game gem.

How It Happened
The Barons got the better of the Lions by a score 12-5, as the Franciscan's bats had their best day of the Florida trip thus far. It started in the first, as Brendan Burke drove in his team-leading eighth RBI of the season to give us a 1-0 edge. Andrew Normandin would get bat on ball to drive in Ryan Scavnicky on a fielder's choice to give Franciscan a 2-0 lead as we headed to the bottom of the first. Rick Carver gave the ball to Jonathan Perez for his first collegiate start, and he did not disappoint. The Lions would score one run off of him in the first, but he gave the Barons the length they were looking for today.

Franciscan would go on to score 10 runs in the second through fourth innings. In the second Maynard drove in Anselmino. In the third, the Barons put up a crooked number thanks to a couple big swings. Normandin doubled in Halsey, and then Anselmino singled in a pair. Aidan Hickey followed that up with a two-RBI single to give Franciscan an 8-1 lead through three innings. Normandin kept up his hot day in the fourth inning with his third RBI of the day on a sharp single. Kyle Ferrance then doubled in David Ferroni and Normandin to plate two more. Anselmino singled in Ferrance to give the Barons the 12-1 edge.

Perez would give up a pair of runs in the fifth, but stayed efficient through the afternoon. A leadoff Lions home run in the seventh, followed by a walk, forced Coach Carver to make the switch the Brendan Burke. The inherited runner would come around to score, but then Burke would shut it down to give Franciscan their sixth win of the season.

At the Plate
- Andrew Normandin went 2-3 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored.
- Ryan Anselmino had his best day thus far in a Baron uniform with 3 RBIs and two runs scored as well.
- Daniel Halsey kept up his strong start with two more hits and a pair of stolen bases.
- Kyle Ferrance drove in a pair, and he earned his first extra-base hit of the season.

On the Mound
- Starter Jonathan Perez pitched 6+ innings with four earned runs to earn his first collegiate win.
- Brendan Burke picked up two strikeouts to close this one out in the seventh inning.

Up Next
Franciscan will get right back after it tomorrow morning against Western Connecticut State at 10 am. On paper it appears to be a great matchup, as both teams split with Hood and swept Albright earlier this week. Earlier in the week the JV Barons team took down the Colonials, but this will be the first time these two team meet in a NCAA competition.
