Short Story: Three school records broken, as Franciscan gets in theor final preps for next week's PAC Championship.

Race Highlights for the Women
  • In the 200 meter dash, Alice McAnespie placed 16th with a time of 28.65. She also ran in the 400 meter, as she placed 14th with a time of 1:04.48.
  • Ashlin LaFond broke a three year old school record in the 800, as she ran a 2:23.56 to place 7th. Nealry a second faster than Claire Dawyot's 2019 record time. Freshman Rachel Hurley placed 24th in this event.
  • In the 1500 meter, Elizabeth Atkins placed 14th to lead the four Franciscan runners in the field. Rachel Hurley was right behind her in 15th, Sydney Lorentz 30th, and Beatrice Wear 32nd.
  • Alison Bryant won the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:39.11. This was the first time she ran this event this spring. She qualified for the NCAA National Tournament last spring in this event. That time was just outside the top 50 in the nation, as she will need to improve some to make a return trip this season. 
  • The 4x400 relay team of Ashlin LaFond, Jessica Campbell, Alice McAnespie,  and Victoria Unnerstall placed sixth with a time of 4:35.95. 
  • Brigid Mack placed 16th in the discuss with a best throw of 32.66  meters.

Race Highlights for the Men
  • James Ricketts was the lone Baron to run in the 100 meter, as he placed 21st with a time of 12.02.
  • Ricketts then placed 15th in the 200 meter with Francisco Tona behind him in 21st place.
  • Freshman Joseph Rohde placed on the podium in the 400 meter, as his time of 50.75 was good enough for fourth. Ryan Ozymy was less than a second behind in sixth place, and David Cappello just missed the podium in 9th place.
  • Austen Duggan had an impressive showing in the 800 meter, as he placed second with a time of 1:56.27. Nathaniel Tokarsky placed 26th, and Francis Langley placed 36th.
  • Liam Galligan finished first in the 1500 meter run, while setting a new Franciscan school record time of 3:49.83. He broke a nine year old record of All-American runner William Jones. As of Saturday afternoon, that time would place Liam with the 13th fastest time in the nation. Mark Borek also earned points in the race by placing third with a time of 3:57.91.
  • David Di Nardo placed sixth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:28.63. 
  • Mike Sobus ran to a fourth place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:02.67.
  • The 4x400 relay team of Joseph Rohde, Austen Duggan, Ryan Ozymy, and David Cappello placed second with a time of 3:23.49. This time broke the school record which was just set last week. 
  • Charles Jardine placed 19th in the shot put. 

Up Next
Franciscan will now make their final preparations and practice for the PAC Championships this coming week. It will be a two day Championship split between Thursday April 28th and Friday April 29th in Morgantown, W.Va.
